According to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, a total of 111 illegal housing societies were discovered in the federal capital. These societies were found to be in violation of legal procedures and regulations.
The committee discussed several issues, including the negative impact of housing societies on the environment, problems with sewage in Islamabad, and the environmental damage caused by Monal Restaurant.
The committee expressed concern over the absence of the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and requested their presence at the next meeting. They also raised the issue of an attack on the Director General of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and called for appropriate action to be taken.
Members of the committee emphasized the importance of coordination among relevant authorities and expressed frustration with the worsening condition of the federal capital. They urged the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination to launch a media campaign to enforce the ban on plastic bags.
Additionally, the committee discussed the problem of sewage from Monal Restaurant affecting the Margalla Hills National Park.
