Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced that free Braille books are being given to visually impaired students studying in government and private institutions across the province.
She explained that Braille printing presses in Lahore and Bahawalpur, equipped with modern technology, are producing high-quality educational materials for students. Last year, over 3,000 visually impaired children were enrolled in schools across Punjab.
The chief minister highlighted that more than 15,000 Braille books, including the Holy Quran, have already been distributed to students with visual impairments. In addition, assistive devices and other resources are being provided to help meet the educational needs of differently-abled students.
Maryam Nawaz also shared that the Punjab Department of Special Education is undergoing major reforms. These changes aim to modernize the system and provide better facilities and support for students with special needs.
She emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring these children have access to quality education and the tools they need to succeed.
The chief minister’s initiative reflects a strong focus on inclusivity and equal opportunities for all students in Punjab. By offering free Braille books and assistive devices, the government hopes to make education more accessible and help visually impaired children thrive in their academic journeys.
