7 Emirates ID, Visa Fines that You Should Be Aware Of

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) has outlined various fines related to Emirates ID and residency services. The purpose of these fines is to ensure compliance with regulations and streamline administrative processes. Some of the key fines that individuals should be aware of are as follows:

A daily fine of Dh20 applies for each day of delay in registering or issuing an ID card, up to a maximum of Dh1,000.

Late ID Card Renewal:

If an ID card is not renewed within 30 days after its expiry, a daily fine of Dh20 is imposed, with a maximum of Dh1,000.

Providing Incorrect Data:

A fine of Dh3,000 is imposed if the service recipient provides inaccurate information.

Typing Errors in Application:

Moreover, users who make typing errors in their applications face a fine of Dh100.

Obstruction of Employees’ Work:

Failing to cooperate with employees or obstructing their work can result in a fine of Dh5,000.

Issuing Visas to Non-Active Establishments:

A hefty fine of Dh20,000 is imposed for issuing visas or entry permits for establishments that are not engaged in any activity.

Misuse of the System:

Those found misusing the system will face a fine of Dh5,000.

How to Apply for exemption from Emirates ID related fines?

Individuals have the option to request exemption from Emirates ID fines under specific circumstances. However, in order to be eligible for exemption, applicants must meet certain conditions, including:

  • Residing outside the UAE for over three months.
  • Residency expiring while abroad or ID card validity expiring after departure from the UAE, supported by a travel document.
  • ID card validity expiring abroad due to executive or judicial decrees or detained passport, along with an official letter from relevant authorities.
  • Medical conditions such as bedridden status, contagious diseases, or disability, evidenced by a medical certificate.
  • Staff of diplomatic or consular missions and dependents.
  • Elderly individuals above 70 years unable to visit customer service centers, supported by a passport or birth certificate.
  • Additionally, delays in ID card registration due to documentation errors, Emirates ID system glitches, or staff mistakes are also considered for exemption.

Being informed about these fines and exemption possibilities can help individuals adhere to regulations and address exceptional circumstances effectively. However, it is important to stay updated on any changes or updates to these fines through official channels.
