Avoidance of frozen foods, fast food and fried foods is recommended by medical experts as some of these foods can be toxic if reheated for consumption.

According to medical experts, a simple diet and lifestyle is good for health, but diseases have also increased since the introduction of microwave ovens to save time and convenience.

Nutritionists agree that repeated reheating of cooked food in a microwave oven is harmful to health. On the other hand, according to a scientific study, if the following foods are reheated for eating, harmful bacteria are produced in them, as a result of which these foods can prove to be poison for the stomach and overall health.

Vegetables

According to the US Center for Food Safety, reheating cooked vegetables can prove to be not only dangerous but also fatal.

Store cooked vegetables at -4°C if intended to be eaten again and thaw at room temperature rather than reheating in a microwave oven. According to nutritionists, reheating spinach, coriander, greens, root vegetables, carrots, turnips should be avoided.

According to nutritionists, nitrate-rich vegetables become toxic after reheating and can cause infertility and cancer, among other diseases.

Egg

After making an omelette or boiling eggs, putting them back in the microwave oven is dangerous for health. Reheating egg products can lead to bacteria such as salmonella that can cause food poisoning.

Potato

According to nutritionists, even heating potatoes in the microwave oven is harmful to health. This process creates a favourable environment for the bacteria called ‘c-botulinum’ in the potatoes.

Mushrooms

Mushrooms are also rich in vitamins and minerals and should be eaten fresh rather than stored for the next day.

Eating mushrooms reheated can cause an upset stomach, so enjoy them cold to avoid any problems.

Cooking Oil

Sunflower, canola, and other cooking oils that have been cooled should not be reheated. Cooking oils contain omega-3s that are very sensitive.

Chicken

Leftover chicken curry is also one of the foods that should be avoided in the microwave oven. The best way to use leftover chicken overnight is to slowly reheat it over low to medium heat to kill all the bacteria in it.

Nutritionists say that if the chicken is placed in a microwave oven to heat it quickly, the protein in it turns into toxic substances. Eating such food causes gas in the stomach or upsets the stomach.

Rice

Experts also advise against reheating rice. Heating rice in a microwave oven can cause harmful bacteria to grow in it. The best way to reheat them is to take them out of the fridge first and heat them slowly on a gas stove.

Seafood

Regarding fish or shrimp, nutritionists say that they should not be cooked until they have been refrigerated for at least 2 hours.

If the foods obtained from the sea are not kept at cold temperatures, bacteria will develop in them, which will not be destroyed even by heating.
