Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja faced criticism from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for a recent incident. During a Test match against Pakistan, Khawaja wore a black armband, which went against the ICC’s Clothing and Equipment Regulations.
The issue arose because Khawaja had originally planned to display messages on his shoes supporting Gà-zà, with phrases like “Freedom is a human right” and “All lives are equal.”
However, the ICC has specific rules regarding what players can wear, and Khawaja’s choice of displaying these messages on his shoes violated those regulations. Born in Pakistan, Khawaja decided to wear a black armband instead. As a consequence, the ICC officially reprimanded him, considering it a breach of the regulations, and issued a warning for this first offense.
