During a match in the Big Bash League (BBL) 13th season between Melbourne Stars and Sydney Thunder, a funny incident occurred involving Pakistan’s pacer Haris Rauf. He hurried to the crease without wearing his helmet, pads, or gloves.
Rauf came to bat on the last ball of the first innings when Mark Steketee was run out. Rushing to avoid a timed out situation, Rauf entered the field without any gear. Although he later put on gloves and a helmet, he left out the pads, probably because it was the last ball of the innings, and he didn’t need to face a ball.
The 30-year-old is playing with fellow Pakistani Usama Mir for the Stars, and Imad Wasim, another former Pakistani player, will join them after Christmas for the remaining matches.
Notably, Melbourne Stars introduced a designated seating area called “Pakistan Bay” at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) for a unique fan experience. They also launched an exclusive membership called the “House of Rauf” for BBL 13, offering fans a chance to witness the action live from “Pakistan Bay.”
Despite speculations and criticism for not playing the Test series against Australia, Haris Rauf was eventually granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
