Indonesia, renowned for its captivating landscapes, bustling cities, and rich cultural tapestry, has recently unveiled a revolutionary visa policy that is set to redefine travel and business opportunities within the archipelago.

The Directorate General of Immigration in Indonesia has introduced a visionary 5-year multiple entry visa, a move aimed at enhancing the country’s appeal to international tourists and business travelers.

Under this progressive initiative, the new visa policy allows tourists an extended stay of up to two months per visit, offering greater flexibility and convenience. What makes this development particularly noteworthy is the five-year validity of the visa, providing an extended timeframe for individuals to explore and engage in various activities within Indonesia.

This innovative visa policy caters to a spectrum of activities, ranging from leisurely sightseeing and reuniting with loved ones to active participation in cultural events. The overarching goal is to foster high mobility for foreigners, facilitating seamless engagement in both business and tourism activities.

The Director General of Immigration, Salmi Karim, expressed optimism about the positive impact of this novel visa policy. He envisions increased mobility for foreigners, anticipating a surge in foreign nationals visiting Indonesia, which, in turn, is expected to stimulate economic and cultural exchanges.

Breaking down the details of the 5-Year Multiple Entry Visa, the policy allows foreigners to stay up to 60 days per visit, a significant enhancement from the standard 30-day stay with a single-entry tourist visa. This extended duration opens up opportunities for a more immersive experience in Indonesia.

The D1 and D2 visas, scheduled to be issued from January 2024, cater to different travel purposes. D1 is designed for sightseers, while D2 is curated for business travelers, offering stays of up to 60 days for activities such as attending meetings, conferences, and negotiations.

One of the notable features of this new policy is the streamlined online application process visit. This modernized approach eliminates the need for cumbersome application forms and embassy visits. Prospective travelers can seamlessly fill out forms, upload required documents, and make secure payments with ease.

To qualify for the visa, applicants need to provide a passport with at least six months of validity, a recent color photo, and a personal bank statement demonstrating a balance of at least US$2,000 in the last three months.

Beyond the individual benefits, the streamlined online application process is expected to act as a catalyst for promoting tourism and business engagements in Indonesia.

The government’s commitment to facilitating travel reflects its determination to encourage potential travelers to explore the diverse and vibrant landscapes of Indonesia’s 17,000 islands. With the introduction of the D1 and D2 visas, the Indonesian government invites travelers to plan their journeys, pack their bags, and embark on an adventure, making the wonders of the archipelago more accessible than ever.
