Cases of cheating among students during the end-of-second-semester exams have been uncovered, as announced by the Emirates School Education Foundation. This revelation sheds light on a serious issue within the academic system.
The Foundation has declared that appropriate measures will be taken to address these cheating incidents. Students found guilty of cheating will face significant consequences, including receiving zero marks for the exam. This stern action aims to deter students from engaging in dishonest practices during examinations.
The Foundation has emphasized its commitment to upholding the integrity of the examination system by referring implicated employees to the public prosecution. This action aligns with Federal Decree Law No. (33) of 2023, which aims to safeguard the examination process from fraud and disruptions.
In response to the growing concern over cheating, the government introduced a federal law in February 2024 specifically targeting exam malpractice.
This law imposes substantial fines of up to Dh200,000 on individuals, excluding students, involved in various cheating activities, such as leaking exam content or altering grades. Additionally, the law stipulates potential penalties, including community service for offenders.
Disciplinary procedures will be initiated against students caught cheating, in accordance with the conduct rules and regulations set forth by the Ministry of Education, educational authorities in each Emirate, and educational institutions. This underscores the seriousness with which cheating is viewed and highlights the importance of maintaining academic integrity.
These measures underscore the government’s commitment to combating cheating in examinations and ensuring fairness and transparency in the education system. Such actions serve to uphold the credibility of academic qualifications and foster an environment conducive to learning and personal development.
