Pakistan has started its first-ever journey to the moon, signaling its entry into the global space exploration field for science studies.
With China’s help, the mission was launched from China’s Hainan Space Site. The satellite, weighing about 7 kilograms, was created over two years by the Electrical Engineering Department of the Institute of Space Technology (IST) in Islamabad.
People could watch the satellite’s launch live on the website and different social media platforms. The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) organized the satellite’s trip to the moon’s orbit, which is expected to take about five days.
By starting this mission, Pakistan becomes the sixth country worldwide to reach the moon. The integration of iCube Qamar with China’s Chang’e 6 mission is a big step in the collaboration between the two countries.
As iCube Qamar started its journey, Pakistan’s national anthem played, marking a very important moment for the country.
