Renowned cricketer James Anderson has announced that he will retire from international cricket after England’s first Test match against West Indies at Lord’s, scheduled for July 10.
The experienced fast bowler shared his decision on Instagram, thanking everyone for their support throughout his impressive 20-year career playing for his country.
In his Instagram post, the 41-year-old expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent England for two decades and play the sport he loves. “I want to let everyone know that the upcoming Test at Lord’s will be my last,” Anderson wrote. “It’s been an amazing journey, and I’ve cherished every moment of it.”
Looking back on his career, which saw him achieve an incredible 700 Test wickets, Anderson acknowledged the unwavering support of his family and fellow cricketers. “I’ll miss wearing the England jersey,” he admitted. “But I understand that it’s time for me to step aside and give others the chance to chase their dreams, just like I had the privilege to do. It’s a bittersweet feeling, but I’m grateful for the memories.”
