Preparations for the upcoming Hajj season in Saudi Arabia are now complete, with the General Authority for Roads finishing extensive work on the roads leading to Makkah. The main aim of these efforts is to make the pilgrimage experience better for all those participating. They’ve done a lot of work, improving a total of 4,000 kilometers of roads.
The improvements include fixing up 158 kilometers of roads, filling in cracks and potholes in 403 places, tidying up the edges of roads along 2,361 kilometers, clearing away 1,240 cubic meters of sand from dunes, and cleaning up streams at 421 locations.
These upgrades are meant to ensure that pilgrims have a smooth and comfortable journey as they make their sacred trip.
The kingdom’s road network is highly regarded by the World Bank for being well-connected, and it plays a crucial role in making sure people can travel safely to the holy sites.
To double-check that everything is good to go, Eng Bader Al Dalami, the acting CEO of the General Authority for Roads, went on an inspection tour covering more than 2,000 kilometers of roads leading to important religious destinations.
