Pakistan declared a national day of mourning on Monday following the tragic helicopter crash that killed Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, along with the country’s foreign minister and other officials.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a “Day of Mourning” to honor President Raisi and his companions. He stated that the Pakistani flag would be flown at half-mast as a sign of respect and solidarity with Iran during this difficult time.
Sharif emphasized the close ties between the two nations and recalled hosting President Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian recently, describing them as good friends of Pakistan.
President Asif Ali Zardari also expressed his condolences, highlighting Raisi’s dedication to promoting unity among Muslims. He praised Raisi’s efforts to strengthen relationships with regional and Islamic countries, noting that his loss is significant for the entire Muslim community, known as the Ummah.
Zardari emphasized that Raisi’s contributions to fostering Muslim unity and cooperation would be remembered and valued.
