Punjab School Education Minister Sikandar Hayat has announced a major recruitment drive to hire up to 30,000 teachers for government schools across the province during the summer vacation. This initiative aims to address the ongoing shortage of teachers and ensure that schools are well-staffed for the upcoming academic year.
Minister Hayat explained that the hiring process will be carried out in stages to effectively manage the current teacher shortage. “Depending on the need, we plan to hire between 20,000 to 30,000 teachers during the summer holidays,” he stated. The minister emphasized the urgency of completing the recruitment swiftly to prepare for the new school year.
“We aim to finish the hiring process during the summer vacation so that schools have enough teachers for the new academic year,” Minister Hayat added. This approach is intended to ensure that the educational needs of students are met without delay.
The recruitment drive is expected to significantly boost employment opportunities in the region. Minister Hayat highlighted that any remaining shortages of teachers after the initial hiring will be managed through a rationalization process.
