In a major initiative, the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has announced a significant reduction in the processing time for work permits and residency visas. Previously taking 30 days, the processing time has now been cut down to just five days, as reported by Khaleej Times.
Additionally, the number of days required to present necessary documents has been reduced from 16 to five. To facilitate this streamlined process, the UAE government has introduced a new platform called “Work Bundle,” designed to simplify the hiring process for business owners and private companies. This platform will also make it easier to renew visas for current employees.
Work Bundle is part of the broader Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, which aims to provide a unified platform that simplifies application procedures for employers. The platform is expected to save approximately 62 million working hours at government offices and reduce the need for 25 million office visits.
Launched in March, the Work Bundle platform is being implemented in three phases. In the first phase, the platform was made available to companies based in Dubai, extending its reach across all seven emirates. The second phase will expand coverage to around 600,000 companies and over seven million workers. In the third phase, the platform will extend its services to domestic workers.
Currently, the Work Bundle platform is accessible via its website, workinuae.ae, but a mobile app is expected to be released soon to enhance accessibility.
This initiative reflects the UAE government’s commitment to improving efficiency and reducing bureaucratic hurdles, making it easier for businesses to hire and retain employees while significantly cutting down on administrative time and effort.
