Government primary schools in Islamabad are set to introduce a new policy that will remove the need for students to carry books back and forth between home and school. Instead, classrooms will be equipped with pigeon holes and book racks where students can store their books. This initiative aims to reduce the burden of heavy school bags and create a healthier learning environment for young students.
Education Secretary Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani announced that this policy will take effect on August 1. The goal is to enhance the well-being of students by lightening their load and making school more comfortable and enjoyable.
In addition to this new policy, the Pakistan Maths and Computer Science Olympiad (PMCSO) will be held in September to encourage and develop STEM talent among students. The Olympiad is open to students from grades 6 to 12, who will compete in Mathematics and Computer Science. Top performers in the competition will receive rewards and recognition for their achievements.
This new approach in primary schools, along with the upcoming Olympiad, underscores the government’s commitment to improving educational standards and promoting a supportive and stimulating environment for students. By reducing physical strain and encouraging academic excellence, these initiatives aim to foster a more effective and enjoyable learning experience.
