Superintendent of Police Beenish Fatima is set to become the new Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Rawalpindi this Friday. She takes over the role from Taimoor Khan, who has held the position since November 18, 2022. Fatima’s appointment is significant as she will be the third woman ever to serve as a CTO in Punjab.
Fatima, who is also the daughter-in-law of a former Inspector General of Police in Punjab, will be the first woman to hold the CTO position in Rawalpindi since the establishment of the City Traffic Police in 2007. Her new role highlights Punjab’s commitment to increasing gender diversity within law enforcement and supporting women in leadership positions.
Taimoor Khan, who is stepping down as CTO, was given a heartfelt farewell by traffic wardens in Rawalpindi. During his tenure, Khan was recognized for introducing several key reforms.
Among his contributions were the launch of traffic police-run driving schools and the expansion of driving learner and licensing centers across the city. His efforts have left a lasting impact on the department, setting a high standard for future leadership.
