The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has introduced Islamabad’s first digital car parking system, starting at G-8 Markaz. This new project is a big step toward modernizing the city’s parking system and making it easier for people to find and pay for parking spots.
CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa, along with other members of the board, officially launched the project. For now, parking is being offered for free so that people can get used to the new system. The goal is to help the public understand how it works before full charges are applied.
The digital parking system will soon be available in other areas too, like F-7 and the parking lot at Centaurus Mall, with everything expected to be fully functional by September 25. After that, the system will expand to more commercial areas, including the Blue Area parking plaza. This will allow people to easily find parking in busy areas of the city.
One of the key features of this system is that it allows for digital payments. People can pay for their parking using credit or debit cards, QR codes, scratch cards, or even with cash. This flexibility is designed to make the process more convenient for users.
The system is managed through a joint venture between Pakistani and Chinese companies, with the CDA receiving 75% of the revenue generated. To encourage quick parking, the first 15 minutes are free for all users. This new system is part of a larger effort to improve services in Islamabad, reduce traffic issues, and create a more efficient parking experience for everyone in the city.
