The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced an extension of its visa amnesty program, offering individuals in violation of residency laws additional time to regularize their status until December 31, 2024. This decision was announced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), providing a two-month reprieve for those needing to settle their residency status in the country.

Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the ICP, stated that the extension coincides with the UAE’s 53rd Union Day celebrations and is intended to support the country’s values of compassion and humanity. Al Khaili explained that this final extension allows violators a chance to avoid financial penalties and possible re-entry bans. Those looking to remain in the UAE legally can either secure employment contracts or exit the country to resolve their status.

The ICP emphasized that the extension was based on a recent surge in demand, with many individuals seeking assistance at service centers as the previous deadline of October 31 approached. Al Khaili highlighted that this extension is the last chance for violators to comply with UAE residency laws without facing severe consequences. Once the program concludes, the ICP will reinstate fines for violators and intensify inspections, with strict legal action against those who continue to breach residency regulations.

The program has witnessed substantial participation, with many taking advantage of its benefits. Al Khaili stressed that the ICP, working alongside government and private sector partners, aims to address any challenges that prevent individuals from complying with residency laws. The agency’s collaborative efforts are intended to ensure that individuals, including families, have the support needed to regularize their residency, secure their rights, and protect their loved ones.

Al Khaili reminded the public that, after December 31, violations will carry renewed penalties, and strict enforcement will follow. The ICP urges all affected residents to take advantage of this final window to avoid the consequences of non-compliance.

This amnesty program reaffirms the UAE’s commitment to maintaining humanitarian standards while upholding the integrity of its residency system.
