Saudi Arabia has announced a major change in its visa policy, affecting 14 countries, including Pakistan.

Under the new rules, the Saudi government has stopped issuing one-year multiple-entry visas for tourism, business, and family visits for these countries. Instead, visitors from these nations can now only apply for single-entry visas.

Countries Affected by the New Visa Policy

The 14 countries affected by this policy change are:

  • Pakistan
  • India
  • Bangladesh
  • Egypt
  • Indonesia
  • Algeria
  • Ethiopia
  • Iraq
  • Jordan
  • Morocco
  • Nigeria
  • Sudan
  • Tunisia
  • Yemen

Reason for the Change

Saudi authorities have made this decision to prevent the misuse of long-term visit visas for performing Hajj illegally. In the past, some individuals from these countries were using multiple-entry visas to stay in the Kingdom and perform Hajj without going through the official pilgrimage process.

To maintain better control over the pilgrimage, the Saudi government has tightened regulations and is enforcing its Hajj quota system more strictly. The new visa policy officially came into effect on February 1, 2025.

New Visa Rules for Visitors from These Countries

If you are from one of the 14 affected countries and plan to visit Saudi Arabia, here’s what you need to know:

  • Only single-entry visas are available now.
  • The visa will be valid for 30 days.
  • Visitors can stay for a maximum of 30 days per visit.
  • All visa applicants must submit their biometrics and applications through Etimad visa centers in their respective countries.

Saudi Arabia’s Stance on Hajj Quotas

Saudi Arabia has a strict system for managing the Hajj pilgrimage. Every country is given a specific number of Hajj slots to ensure a smooth and organized pilgrimage. By removing multiple-entry visas for these 14 countries, the Kingdom aims to stop unauthorized Hajj visits and ensure fair access for all pilgrims.

Hajj 2025 Registration for Domestic Pilgrims

Meanwhile, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has opened registrations for Hajj 2025 for domestic pilgrims, including Saudi citizens and residents. Those who wish to perform Hajj can apply through the Nusuk app or the official Hajj e-portal.

The ministry has also advised applicants to:

  • Complete their health information before applying.
  • Add accompanying family members in their application.
  • Submit requests for exemption from the Mahram requirement if needed.

Priority for First-Time Hajj Pilgrims

Saudi authorities have also stated that priority for Hajj 2025 will be given to those who have never performed Hajj before. Once the application process is complete, pilgrims will receive notifications when Hajj package bookings become available.

This new visa policy reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to better regulating travel and ensuring a fair and organized Hajj experience for all pilgrims.
