The federal government has decided to ease the financial burden on electricity consumers using up to 300 units per month, along with agricultural tube wells. This move aims to reduce electricity costs for millions of households and farmers.
Federal Minister for Energy, Ovais Ahmad Khan Leghari, highlighted the importance of providing relief to these consumers. He stated that the government is working towards fair energy pricing and ensuring that the benefits of fuel cost adjustments reach those who need them the most.
A formal request has been sent to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) by the Power Division, asking for fuel adjustment reductions to be extended to these users.
Officials revealed that for many years, small-scale electricity users and farmers had been excluded from these benefits, leading to higher costs.
If approved, this relief measure will lower electricity bills for thousands of households and agricultural operations, helping them manage rising costs. The government believes this step will not only provide immediate financial relief but also promote fair energy pricing policies in the future.
