In One Day Internationals (ODIs), Pakistani openers Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq have matched the partnership record set by cricket legends Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf.

Babar and Imam have formed a remarkable partnership in ODI cricket, scoring many runs together. They have equaled Yousuf and Khan’s record by scoring nine centuries for Pakistan.

Let’s take a look at some other 100 partnerships for Pakistan (ODIs):

  • Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf — eight times
  • Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq — seven times
  • Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman — six times
  • Inzamam-ul-Haq, Saleem Malik — six times
  • Mohammad Yousuf, Shoaib Malik — six times

On Wednesday, Pakistan secured their first ODI series win against New Zealand in 12 years with a hard-fought 26-run triumph in the third match held in Karachi. Imam-ul-Haq contributed with a 107-ball 90, and Babar Azam made a 62-ball 54, his 26th ODI half-century, to lead Pakistan to a total of 287-6 in 50 overs.

With this win, Pakistan took a dominant 3-0 lead in the five-match series, after winning the first two matches by five and seven wickets, respectively, in Rawalpindi.

“It’s always a relief when you win a series and it was a good team effort,” said Babar. “We put (on) a good total and then (the) bowlers were outstanding.

“The focus is now to not relax and come out strongly for the next two matches and hopefully we can continue to give one hundred per cent.”

Pakistan had not won an ODI series against New Zealand since 2011, having lost six out of the seven series played between the two teams, with one series ending in a draw.
