Today, Pakistan is enthusiastically celebrating Youm-e-Takbeer, which commemorates the historic day when the country successfully conducted nuclear tests in the Chaghai hills 25 years ago. These tests established Pakistan as the seventh nuclear-armed nation in the world and the first in the Islamic world, ensuring regional stability and restoring the balance of power.
Youm-e-Takbeer holds immense significance in Pakistan’s history, as it solidified the nation’s defense capabilities and power equilibrium through the acquisition of nuclear arms.
President Arif Alvi acknowledged the remarkable achievement of Pakistan in acquiring nuclear weapons, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining a balance of power in the region. He commended the engineers and scientists who played a crucial role in making Pakistan a nuclear power within a short span of time.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed that national defense and sovereignty were impregnable, emphasizing that Youm-e-Takbeer symbolized an unwavering commitment to protect the country’s sovereignty and defense. He praised the patriotism of former Prime Ministers Nawaz Sharif and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto for their contributions to Pakistan’s nuclear program. The Prime Minister urged the nation to carry forward the spirit of Youm-e-Takbeer to achieve economic sovereignty and self-dependence.
The Pakistan Army also paid tribute to the individuals who contributed to the nuclear program, acknowledging their brilliance and perseverance in achieving nuclear deterrence despite numerous challenges.
