The National Assembly unanimously passed the Pakistan Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s bill, under which any private committee other than the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will be banned from sighting and declaring the moon.
On Wednesday, the National Assembly unanimously passed a law related to the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, the details of which have been received by SAMAA, the bill will come into force immediately.
According to the law, a central Ruet-e-Hilal committee will be formed to see the moon, all schools of thought will be represented in the 16-member central committee.
According to the bill, there will be a complete ban on the sighting of the moon by private committees, a fine of up to Rs 5 00,000 will be imposed for violating the law, three years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 have been fixed for perjury of the moon.
Each province will form district committees of six members, which will be supervised by deputy commissioners, islamabad’s committee will consist of seven members, including a chairperson, according to the bill passed.
