The Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) has announced that direct flights to Saudi Arabia for Hajj pilgrims from Balochistan, Pakistan have been initiated. Previously, residents of Balochistan had to make stopovers in other cities, such as Karachi, before reaching the Holy cities for Hajj.
In a significant development, the national flag carrier airline, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), conducted its first nighttime flight, PK-747, from Quetta airport. The flight departed for Madinah with 145 Hajj pilgrims. Previously, PK6133 and PK-6137 had departed for Madinah with nearly 300 pilgrims. This initiative allows residents of Balochistan to travel directly for Hajj without the need to stopover in other cities.
The introduction of these flight operations from Quetta is possible due to the recent upgrades made to the airport, enabling it to accommodate larger aircraft. The authorities have ensured that Quetta airport is fully equipped to handle the needs of Hajj travelers.
At present, the Hajj operation is underway from ten cities in Pakistan, including Quetta. The post-Hajj flight operation is scheduled to begin on July 4, facilitating the return of pilgrims from Saudi Arabia to their respective cities in Pakistan.
