Climate Change Minister Sherry Rehman stated on Tuesday that given the size and strength of the winds, Karcahi “will likely” experience urban flooding as Pakistan’s coastal districts prepare for Cyclone Biparjoy.
The senator declared on Twitter that “#BiparjoyCyclone is real. The pdmasindhpk and PDMABalochistan advisories for the coastal areas should be taken carefully without causing panic.
“I’ve been told that only the Balochistan side has seen a reduction in intensity thus far, but it is still very unpredictable, so do not treat it lightly.”
“It is varying in intensity but caution is crucial, esp near the Sindh coast. Karachi will likely face urban flooding given the scale & intensity of winds. Precautionary evacuations in Seaview areas have begun. We will keep you updated.”
