Tomorrow, the Ruet-e-Hilal committee, Pakistan’s moon-sighting body, will gather in Karachi, the country’s largest city, to search for the sighting of the Zilhaj crescent. The committee, led by Maulana Syed Abdul Khabir Azad, will be joined by members from various government departments such as the Ministry of Religious Affairs, SUPARCO, Met Office, and Ministry of Science and Technology at the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
Simultaneously, zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal committees will convene at their respective headquarters for similar discussions.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department previously forecasted that the Zil Hajj moon is likely to be visible on June 19, and Eidul Adha is expected to be celebrated on June 29.
Cloudy weather is anticipated in some regions of Pakistan during the moon sighting, but the crescent should be visible for over an hour after sunset on June 19. The following month is projected to begin on June 20.
For those inquiring about the number of holidays for Eid, the cabinet division has already issued a notification specifying three public holidays for Eidul Adha on June 29, 30, and July 1. However, these dates are subject to the moon sighting. The federal government will release a separate notification regarding holidays after the decision of the moon sighting committee.
