This trend will continue shortly as electricity prices are unlikely to come down much anytime soon. Electricity costs are higher during summer than winter and that means the bill will be higher.

Now the country does not have 1 slab system but the electricity bill has to be paid under multiple slabs, i.e. The per-unit cost will increase as the number of units increases. But the good thing is that with a few simple steps, you can reduce your electricity bill.

Use LED bulbs

If you haven’t started using LED lights at home yet, do it now. According to experts, LED bulbs consume 75% less energy than other lights and last 25 times longer. This means significant savings in electricity bills over time.

Do not use fans unnecessarily

Bulbs or lights are usually used in the evening but fans run day and night and also have the biggest impact on the electricity bill. A fan uses an average of 75 watts of electricity per hour (depending on the fan model and how old it is).

So try to spend most of the day in one room instead of increasing the electricity bill by running whole house fans. In this way, the electricity bill will be reduced to a considerable extent.

Keep the air conditioner (AC) temperature high

Research reports have found that for every degree increase in AC temperature, 6% of electricity is saved.

If you live in a city where the average daily temperature is between 34 and 38 degrees Celsius, keeping the AC even 10 degrees Celsius below the average temperature can keep the room or house cool.

As it has been rated above every degree centigrade increase in AC temperature saves 6% of electricity, so changing it to 24 degrees instead of 18 can help reduce the electricity bill by 36% while the house Cools properly.

Avoid running the AC continuously

If you spend several hours in an AC room, try to turn off the AC for an hour or two every 2 or 3 hours. Generally, the cooling of the AC is maintained in the closed room till this time and in this way also helps in saving electricity.

Place the refrigerator in the correct position

A refrigerator uses a lot of electricity because it is an electrical device that runs continuously.

This is the reason why it is important to keep the refrigerator in such a place that the air circulation around it is maintained to save electricity. For this, place the refrigerator at least 2 inches away from the wall and in a place where sunlight does not reach.

Overfilling fridges and freezers affects the structure of the inner boxes and increases the risk of various parts breaking, but also makes the machine work harder, which increases electricity costs.

Turn off the switch

It’s not enough to turn off devices like the television, you should also turn off the switch to which the device is connected. Even when not doing this, the power continues to be consumed, for which the term standby power is used.

There are laptop chargers, phone chargers, and many other devices that stay plugged in if they are switched on, adding to the electricity bill.

Avoid using high-power devices during peak hours.

Peak time is between the hours of 5 and 11 p.m. when electricity prices are at their maximum nationwide.

This period varies according to the season in Lahore from June to August the peak time is from 7 to 11 pm but from September to November it is from 6 to 10 pm.

In order to reduce your electricity bill, try to avoid using your air conditioner, washing machine, or other electrical devices between the hours of 6 pm and 10 or 11 pm.
