Pakistan praised India’s recent accomplishment of successfully landing a spacecraft called Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon. This is a big deal in the field of science. Pakistan’s Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said good things about India’s space agency, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), during a press briefing.
On Wednesday, India made history by being the first country to safely land a craft near the Moon’s south pole. The craft, Chandrayaan-3, landed at 6:04 pm India time. This is a big deal because India had a failed attempt before and Russia’s recent probe also crashed in the same area on the Moon.
Even though India used rockets that were not as powerful as the ones used by the United States in the past, they managed to launch their probe, called Vikram, into the Moon’s orbit. Vikram, the part that was supposed to land on the Moon, separated from its main part and has been sending pictures of the Moon’s surface since it started orbiting the Moon on August 5.
After Vikram’s successful landing, a rover that runs on solar power will explore the Moon’s surface and send information back to Earth for about two weeks. India’s space program is known for achieving big things with less money compared to other countries.
They do this by using existing technology and a skilled team of engineers who get paid less than engineers in other countries.
In the past, India sent a probe to circle around Mars in 2014, being the first Asian country to do so. They are also getting ready to send people into space within the next year.
