During a recent launch event for its new Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) factory, Toyota announced plans to release enhanced electric vehicles in 2026 with a much longer range of nearly 500 miles on a single charge.
Toyota also revealed advancements in battery technology, improved aerodynamics, and more efficient manufacturing processes as part of its strategy to boost electric vehicle sales in the next generation of electric models.
The BEV factory is dedicated solely to electric vehicles, and production of these new electric cars will start in 2026.
Toyota introduced four new batteries, with the first one being the Performance lithium-ion battery. It will power the upcoming electric vehicles in 2026, providing an impressive range of nearly 500 miles when combined with improved aerodynamics and reduced weight. These vehicles are expected to be 20% cheaper than Toyota’s first electric model and will offer fast charging, allowing for a 20-minute charging time.
The second battery, called the Popularisation Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, is planned for release in 2026 or 2027. This battery aims to be affordable, increasing the range by 20% (about 375 miles) while reducing costs by 40% compared to the bZ4X model.
