Inzamam-ul-Haq, the former Pakistan cricket captain, is contemplating resigning from his role as chief selector due to disagreements with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Reportedly, Inzamam is unhappy with the appointment of Shahid Anwar as the head coach of the U19 men’s team, as he had recommended Mohammad Yousaf for the position.
This is not the first time that Inzamam has had conflicts with the PCB, and there have been previous differences. Recently, Inzamam signed a contract worth Rs2.5 million per month with the PCB.
However, the PCB has denied these claims, stating that Inzamam was actively involved in the selection process for the U19 men’s team and the women’s A team, and they were unaware of any discord between Inzamam and the board.
Earlier this month, Inzamam was appointed as the chairman of the Junior Men’s Cricket Selection Committee, in addition to his existing role as the head of the senior selection committee.
The senior selection committee consists of Tauseef Ahmed, Wajahatullah Wasti, and Wasim Haider, while the junior selection committee comprises Aamer Nazir, Javed Hayat, Mahmood Hamid, Naveed Latif, Salman Ahmed, and Sanaullah Baloch.
In a separate development, former captain Mohammad Hafeez recently announced his resignation from the PCB Technical Committee on X (formerly known as Twitter), extending his gratitude to chairman Zaka Ashraf and wishing the best for Pakistan cricket. Hafeez’s decision to step down from the committee came after a brief tenure of just under two months.
