The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning about a cyclone alert due to a low-pressure system forming in the Arabian Sea, approximately 1,700 kilometers away from the Pakistani coast.
According to the Met Office, this low-pressure system is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm within the next 24 hours, primarily due to favorable environmental conditions. The cyclonic storm is projected to head toward the southern coasts of Oman and Yemen.
The PMD has clarified that the coastal areas of Pakistan might be affected by this weather system. However, as it moves in a west-northwest direction, it is unlikely to have a direct impact on Karachi or other nearby coastal regions.
This cyclone, known as Tej, is the second such weather event in the Arabian Sea this year. Previously, Cyclone Biparjoy, which emerged in June, affected the coasts of Sindh in Pakistan and Gujarat in India.
