Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, has unveiled the team’s strategy for the crucial ICC World Cup 2023 match against England in Kolkata. Following New Zealand’s recent win against Sri Lanka, Pakistan faces a daunting task to secure a spot in the World Cup semi-finals.
To have a chance, if Pakistan bats first, they would need to defeat England by a staggering 287 runs. Alternatively, if they bowl first, Pakistan must restrict England to 50 runs and then chase the target in two overs, or limit them to 100 runs and chase it down in three overs.
Azam expressed optimism, stating, “Anything can happen in cricket. We will try to finish the tournament on a high note.” He revealed the team’s plan to focus on improving their net run-rate and outlined strategies for the initial 10 overs and beyond. The captain highlighted the importance of key players, including Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Mohammad Rizwan.
Addressing criticism from former cricketers, Azam remained unfazed, stating, “There is no pressure on me. I was performing and leading the side for the past three years as well.” He urged those offering advice to contact him directly and emphasized his current focus on the upcoming match, deferring thoughts about the future of his captaincy.
