Caretaker Religious Minister Aneeq Ahmed has hinted at announcing the Hajj policy on November 15, aiming to make the sacred pilgrimage easier and more affordable amid rising inflation.
Ahmed, addressing a dinner reception organized by the Pakistan Business Group Organization, revealed the government’s intention to reduce expenses for this year’s Hajj. He emphasized the consistent adherence to the Hajj Policy since 2004, highlighting the importance of following the directives of the Saudi government.
In a notable development, Ahmed disclosed a reduced cost for the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage, now less than Rs1,075,000 compared to the previous Rs1,175,000. He assured that pilgrims would experience maximum convenience and comfort, with facilities such as an affordable internet data package and a private network SIM available during their 45-day stay in the Kingdom.
The minister introduced a short-term Hajj program spanning approximately 20 days, recognizing the constraints faced by some pilgrims with limited time. Prospective pilgrims paying their Hajj dues in dollars were exempted from the balloting process, aiming to streamline the Hajj process.
To enhance security, every pilgrim would receive a suitcase equipped with a QR code for the secure tracking of both their luggage and themselves throughout the entire Hajj operation. Additionally, the ministry initiated a measure to maintain discipline among female pilgrims by providing a scarf (hijab) adorned with the national flag on their back.
