Riyadh Air unveiled its new plane design at the Dubai Airshow 2023, featuring an indigo theme adorned with Arabic calligraphy. The aim is to achieve recognition in the air and on land, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s progressive vision. The airline, wholly owned by the Public Investment Fund, revealed its second livery through a QR code.
CEO Tony Douglas expressed excitement, describing Riyadh Air as the largest startup in decades. The distinctive design includes a unique cockpit window and bilingual branding on the tail, engines, and underbelly.
Set to commence operations in 2025, Riyadh Air plans to connect the Saudi capital to over 100 global destinations by 2030. This initiative, creating a second national airline alongside Saudia, is in line with Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification strategy.
Highlighting their commitment to detail, digital innovation, and environmental sustainability, Riyadh Air has provisionally ordered 72 Boeing 787s. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s announcement in March marked the genesis of the airline, aiming to position Riyadh as a global hub for transportation, trade, and tourism.
