On Sunday, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) took action to prevent nine individuals suspected of being beggars from Multan, who were posing as Umrah pilgrims, from boarding a flight to Saudi Arabia.
The FIA officials at Multan International Airport detained the group, consisting of six women and two men, who allegedly concealed their true intentions and hotel reservations in Saudi Arabia.
After their apprehension, the detained individuals have been transferred to the FIA’s anti-human trafficking unit for further investigation.
This unit is likely to delve into the circumstances surrounding their attempt to travel under false pretenses, aiming to uncover any potential human trafficking or illegal activities.
The FIA spokesperson emphasized the heightened scrutiny of passengers, particularly during travels associated with religious pilgrimages like Umrah, to thwart any groups attempting to engage in begging activities.
