The Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) has declared plans to hold sit-ins at 60 locations across Karachi starting tomorrow, adding to the ongoing traffic disruptions caused by other protests in the city.

The protest movement, aimed at pressuring the Sindh government, has led ASWJ leaders to issue a 24-hour ultimatum for the authorities to meet their demands.

ASWJ leaders have stated that, unless their conditions are addressed, the sit-ins will begin at key locations around Karachi from 3:00 pm tomorrow, including areas like Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Hydari Market, Sakhi Hasan Mobile Market, Nagan Chowrangi, 4k Chowrangi, Sohrab Goth, Karimabad, Sharah-e-Faisal, Lasbela Chowk, Civic Centre, Gulshan Chowrangi, Mosmayat Chowk, Baloch Colony, Akhtar Colony and other locations. They stressed that these actions are necessary to ensure their voices are heard by the provincial government.

This comes amid ongoing protests by the Majlis-e-Wahdatul-Muslimeen (MWM), which has been holding demonstrations in the city over the Kurram issue for the past week.

These protests have already caused significant traffic jams and long delays for commuters, frustrating residents. The MWM has been staging sit-ins at several points in Karachi, continuing to impact traffic flow and daily life.

In response to the growing unrest, authorities have warned that strict action may be taken to clear the protests.

A recent statement from Karachi’s Additional Inspector General (AIG), Javed Alam Odho, indicated that steps would be taken to end the sit-ins before sunset. However, the police spokesperson later clarified that the remarks were misunderstood, and no direct orders had been given to end the protests.

With these developments, Karachiites face continued traffic troubles, while the government and protest leaders appear to be locked in a standoff.
