During a hearing at the Sindh High Court (SHC), Justice Salahuddin Panhwar was surprised by the response of a grade 17 officer about his BA degree in mathematics. The officer’s failure to correctly spell the word “Math” when asked caused laughter in the courtroom.
The hearing was about a petition concerning the cancellation of lease plots in Qureshi Cooperative Society. Muharram Ali Sand, the Registrar of the Society, was present in court. The lawyer for the petitioners explained to the court that Sand was responsible for canceling the lease of their plots. Because of this, the property buyers were seeking justice.
The lawyer also pointed out issues with the educational qualifications and job positions of officials in the Cooperative Societies. For instance, Registrar Cooperative Societies Zameer Abbasi, who is a grade 18 officer, was found to be working in a grade 19 position. This discrepancy surprised the court.
