The latest update in Men’s ODI Player Rankings indicates that Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, is at risk of losing his top position in the batting rankings.
His lead has shrunk to just six rating points, and India’s Shubman Gill is a strong contender to take his place at the top.
The update notes that despite scoring 157 runs in five innings during the Cricket World Cup, including a recent 74 against Afghanistan, Babar’s rating has dropped to 829 points.
Shubman Gill, an Indian opener, has improved his rating to 823 points with some good performances, including a notable 53 against Bangladesh.
Notably, South African player Quinton de Kock is also performing well and is close behind in the third position, thanks to scoring three centuries in the World Cup. Heinrich Klaasen from South Africa has risen to fourth place in the rankings, achieving a career-high rating.
Meanwhile, experienced players like Virat Kohli and David Warner have improved their rankings and share fifth place.
In the ODI bowlers rankings, Australian bowler Josh Hazlewood is still leading, but Indian bowler Mohammed Siraj is in second place, with six wickets from five World Cup matches.
I’mSouth African spinner Keshav Maharaj is in third place with a new high rating due to his seven wickets in the tournament. Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi and Australia’s Adam Zampa have also moved up in the rankings and are in the top 10.
