Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, set a new milestone on Friday by becoming the first player to hit 18 hundreds in a single innings.
In the fourth ODI against New Zealand in Karachi, Babar—the top batter in the world in the one-day international format—achieved the feat.
The Pakistani captain has scored 18 tonnes in 97 innings, compared to Hashim Amla’s 102, David Warner’s 115, and Virat Kohli’s 119 for South Africa, Australia, and India, respectively.
Babar also holds the record for the most innings needed to score his 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries.
The Pakistani captain added another accomplishment to his resume by becoming the ODI batsman to reach 5,000 runs in the shortest amount of time.
The star batter made history by being the first player to accomplish this in fewer than 100 innings.
Babar became the 14th player to reach 5,000 runs after reaching this mark in just 97 innings.
While West Indian icon Vivian Richards and India’s Virat Kohli scored these runs in 114 innings, South Africa’s Amla achieved 5,000 runs in 101 innings.
The hitter had already amassed 12,000 runs in international cricket, which he did during the first match against the Black Caps.
As the fastest batter in Pakistan and the second-fastest in Asia, it took him 277 innings to accomplish this achievement. He reached this accomplishment at the sixth-fastest rate in the world.
Babar became the 14th player to reach 5,000 runs after reaching this mark in just 97 innings.
