‘Women in Stem’ scholarships exclusively for women worldwide provides fully funded opportunities to passionate women studying STEM subjects. The funding is for women who aim to pursue their master’s degree in science and technology subjects in United Kingdom.
British council is awarding these prestigious scholarships for the third consecutive year collaborating with 21 UK universities to empower women from East Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, Turkey, Mexico, Brazil, Western Balkans, and America.
The scholarship aims to increase the number of women pursuing technological subjects as according to the statistics revealed by the UN Scientific Education and Cultural Organization, only 30% women go for STEM subjects occupying only 30% of researchers worldwide. This opportunity intends to remove the barrier and welcome women from across the world to foster in STEM related subjects.
Eligibility Criteria
- Interested women applicants must have undergraduate degree and can start their studies from September or October 2023.
- Can actively work in the field of their chosen field and demonstrate leadership skills.
- Must show English proficiency via IELTS / TOEFL / English proficiency certificate.
- Must be able to demonstrate that they require financial assistance to study in UK.
How to Apply

- Open the British Council website and find ‘Women in STEM’ scholarship page.
- From the list of universities offering specific STEM-related courses, find the one you intend to apply for.
- The students, after selecting the course, must visit the website of the concerned university and read the eligibility criteria.
- Apply separately at the university through online application process.
- After applying at the university, you will be given a ‘student number’, save it.
- From the university’s website, open the scholarship form where you will have to answer the questions related to your financial situation and reasons to apply for this scholarship.
- You will have to email the form at the specific email, mentioned at the end of form.

The deadline varies for each institution, therefore interested applicants must check out the websites of the UK universities where they intend to apply for.
