Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial, serving as the presiding judge, successfully completed 8,796 cases within just one year, from February 2022 to February 2023. The Supreme Court reported that a total of 22,843 cases were effectively resolved during the past year.
During the same period, 20,707 new cases were registered, highlighting the court’s dedicated efforts to address the backlog of pending cases.
As of February 2, 2022, there were a staggering 54,706 cases awaiting resolution. However, thanks to the court’s relentless dedication and swift action, this number decreased significantly to 52,590 by February 1, 2023.
This is the first time in the past ten years that a decline in pending cases has been observed. Previously, the number of pending cases had been consistently increasing since 2013.
