BYD has launched the Shark, a new plug-in hybrid truck aimed at competing directly with popular models like the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger.
The Shark boasts a tough exterior design inspired by sharks, built on a Dual Mode Offroad platform that provides a high 282mm ground clearance. It runs on a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine combined with a powerful 320-kW hybrid system and a 30 kWh Blade Battery Pack.
This setup gives the Shark an electric driving range of 100 kilometers and a total range of 850 kilometers when considering both electric and fuel-powered modes.
Inside, the Shark offers practical features such as a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a large 12.8-inch infotainment screen, and various modern conveniences.
Despite its impressive features and capabilities, there are challenges in the US market where Chinese vehicle sales face restrictions, indicating potential tensions within the automotive industry.
