Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced an expansion of the “CM Maryam Nawaz Free Wi-Fi” program, now providing free internet access at more than 230 locations across several areas, including Lahore, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, and Sheikhupura. This information was shared by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA).
The main goal of this initiative is to help digitize the province and make internet access more available to everyone. Specifically, the project includes 200 Wi-Fi points in Lahore, 10 in Kasur, 15 in Sheikhupura, and 5 in Nankana Sahib.
Since the program expanded on June 16, it has welcomed over 7.7 million users who have used a total of 111 terabytes of data. The service has maintained an impressive availability rate of 98.7%.
A spokesperson from the PSCA highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating that it greatly improves access to online resources for education and business.
By providing free internet, the program helps residents in both cities and rural areas connect to the digital world. This means people can access online classes, find job opportunities, and manage their daily tasks more easily.
