The Punjab government is making a significant investment in education by dedicating Rs 50 billion to upgrade more than 39,000 schools in the province. This major initiative includes raising the level of 7,000 elementary schools to high school status and upgrading 32,000 primary schools to the elementary level.
According to an official document, the process of upgrading the elementary schools will take place over the next two years, while the primary schools will be upgraded to the elementary level within the next three years. This substantial investment will also involve the establishment of modern IT and science labs in these schools to enhance the quality of education.
Previously, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed her dissatisfaction with delays in textbook delivery to students, stating that such delays were unacceptable.
During a recent meeting chaired by CM Maryam Nawaz, a proposal from the Punjab School Inspectorate was discussed. The proposal aims to establish a Standardized Matriculation Examination Board and centralize all school education matters under one governing body.
The Punjab government’s focus on improving education infrastructure and resources demonstrates its commitment to providing students with a better learning experience. By elevating school levels and introducing updated facilities, the government hopes to create a more effective and efficient education system across the province.
