Climate Change Minister Sherry Rehman has informed that Cyclone Biparjoy, which had slightly deviated from its path towards Karachi, is now expected to make landfall in Sindh’s Keti Bandar on Thursday at 11 am. During a press conference in Islamabad, the minister shared that approximately 66,000 individuals from coastal areas in Sindh have been evacuated to safer places.
She appealed to the public to cooperate with authorities and assured them that rescue agencies are ready for relief operations. The minister highlighted that the districts of Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, and Tharparkar will be most affected by the cyclone, while also mentioning that Biparjoy is moving away from Karachi.
As per the latest updates from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Cyclone Biparjoy has shifted its course away from Karachi. It is currently located about 370 kilometers south of the city. Over the past six hours, the cyclone has moved in a north-northeastward direction and is now positioned at latitude 21.7°N and longitude 66.4°E.
It is approximately 370 kilometers south-southwest of Karachi, 355 kilometers south-southwest of Thatta, and 290 kilometers south-southwest of Keti Bandar, as reported by the weather forecast department. Earlier, the cyclone was situated 340 kilometers south of Karachi.
