Dewan Farooque Motors has announced plans to introduce a locally assembled electric truck named “Kama” in Pakistan by 2025. The Kama will be based on the popular diesel-powered Shehzore truck but will offer a cleaner and more sustainable alternative. It is designed to run on electricity, with a range of up to 300 kilometers on a single charge, and will come equipped with fast-charging capabilities.
According to Kashif Riaz, Director of Projects at Dewan Farooque Motors, the parts needed to assemble the Kama have already been delivered to Pakistan, and production is expected to start soon. The company believes this electric truck will help reduce operating costs for businesses that rely on commercial vehicles. It is also expected to be priced more affordably compared to traditional diesel-powered trucks, making it a cost-effective option for many.
This move is part of Dewan Farooque Motors’ broader efforts to expand into the electric vehicle market. The company has already successfully launched the Honri EV, a locally assembled electric car. Kashif Riaz highlighted the importance of Pakistan transitioning to electric vehicles, stating that this shift could bring international recognition to the country and open doors to earning carbon credits.
By introducing the Kama, Dewan Farooque Motors is taking another step toward promoting environmentally friendly transport solutions and supporting the growth of the electric vehicle industry in Pakistan.
