The UAE is counting down the days to the upcoming Eid Al Adha holiday, which falls just before the two month summer break. This means residents have plenty of vacation options to choose from and exciting adventures to look forward to.

However, the question on everyone’s mind is whether it will be a 5 or an 6 day weekend? The duration of this holiday depends on the sighting of the Moon. As it determines the beginning and end of each Islamic Hijri calendar month.

Predicted Dates for the Holiday

As per the Islamic calendar, the official holiday to celebrate Eid Al Adha spans from Dhul Hijjah 9 to 12. While the corresponding dates in the Gregorian calendar can only be determined once the Moon is sighted. The astronomical calculations suggest that the break is likely to commence on Tuesday, June 27, and conclude on Friday, June 30.

The Hijri Calendar

Eid Al Adha, a joyous occasion, is celebrated in the 12th and final month of the Hijri calendar known as Dhul Hijjah. At present, we find ourselves in the 12th month, Dhul Qaidah.

The sighting of the crescent Moon holds significance for Muslims. They search for its appearance on the 29th day of each month. In this year, Dhul Qaidah 29 falls on June 18. If the moon is spotted that night, Dhul Hijjah will commence on June 19.

However, if the Moon is not sighted on June 18, Dhul Hijjah will begin on June 20, providing a 5-day weekend commencing from June 28. This question whether it will be a 5 or 6 day weekend can better be answered on 29th Dhul Qaidah, depending on the sighting of Moon.

Travel Packages

The demand for travel soars as the anticipation for the Eid break reaches its peak. Therefore, flight deals to neighboring countries are being advertised for as little as Dh2,450 for a return trip.

For those seeking comprehensive holiday experiences, full packages start from a mere Dh2,600, offering residents affordable options for creating unforgettable memories. So don’t miss out on these enticing travel deals and packages! Get ready to embark on a journey during this festive season.
