The government of Sindh made an announcement on Wednesday about introducing an electric taxi service in Karachi, Pakistan. The Sindh Transport Minister, Sharjeel Memon, stated that the taxi service would commence in the upcoming financial year. This initiative is expected to create job opportunities for the youth in Karachi. Initially, 150 taxis will be launched in the first phase of the service.
To ensure safety and comfort, there will be separate pink taxis specifically designated for women. Additionally, the drivers of these pink taxis will also be women, further promoting inclusivity and empowering women in the transportation sector. On the other hand, red-colored taxis have been suggested for men.
