During the Hajj pilgrimage, an astronaut from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) took a picture of Mecca from space and shared it. Sultan al-Neyadi, the UAE astronaut on the International Space Station (ISS), captured the stunning image during the important moment of “Wuquf Arafat” (standing at Mount Arafat) on Tuesday. He used a camera in space to capture the mesmerizing view.
On Tuesday, during Wuquf Arafat, Sultan al-Neyadi, a UAE astronaut on the International Space Station, took a captivating picture of Mecca and posted it on Twitter. He is currently on a six-month mission with NASA at the International Space Station and regularly updates his Twitter account from there.
Earlier, on the 27th night of Ramadan, Sultan al-Neyadi had shared pictures of the Holy Kaaba in Mecca and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina from space on his official Twitter account. During the Hajj rituals, millions of pilgrims from around the world gather in response to the call of “Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik” (Here I am, O Allah, Here I am) to perform the significant ritual of Wuquf Arafat on the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah after offering the Fajr prayer.
The pilgrims gathered in the field of Arafat after listening to the Hajj sermon at Masjid Namrah. They performed the combined Dhuhr and Asr prayers together. After the Maghrib prayer, the pilgrims left the field of Arafat and headed towards Muzdalifah. They will collect pebbles from Muzdalifah for the symbolic stoning ritual and spend the night there.
After offering the Fajr prayer, they will proceed to Mina for the stoning ritual. The Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, mentioned that the current number of pilgrims arriving from over 150 countries is 1,845,045.
