A big moment in Balochistan’s history happened when a woman became the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Jaffarabad. Faryal Fareed, originally from Haripur in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, took on this role on September 1.
When she arrived at the Jaffarabad district police office, the police officers there welcomed her with flowers and salutes. Her first action as SSP was to have a meeting with her team.
Jaffarabad is a district on the border, and making sure things are safe on the National Highway there has always been tough. What’s impressive is that SSP Faryal is the first female police officer in Pakistan’s Police Service to receive the “Sword of Honour.”
She got this award in 2018 when she was an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) for doing exceptionally well during her training at the National Police Academy.
Interestingly, Faryal’s husband, Dr. Sami Malik, is also in the police, and he became the Naseerabad SSP at the same time as Faryal became the Jaffarabad SSP.
